WL//WH Video Of The Day: BAD BLOOM “Onion” (Official Music Video)

Video Of The Day  Bad Bloom

Bad Bloom, the Rochester, New York-based Dream Goth / Shoegaze Rockers led by the husband and wife pair of Jay Trovato and Kate Rogers alongside permanent members Rob Blatt and Ryne Ziemba, drops an Official Music Video created by Raincoated Records for last year’s song “Onion”, to be included in the forthcoming 4-track EP “Pepper”, due out on  April 11, 2025 via Boston‘s independent label Candlepin Records.

In “Onion”, reality bends between two worlds—one underground, hazy and restless, the other a dreamlike escape bathed in golden light. Lead singer and bassist Kate finds herself caught between them, tempted to stay above ground but ultimately drawn back below, where her bandmates await in the underworld.

A 90s-infused buzzy blend of grungy energy, shoegaze distortion and pensive melancholy, “Onion” elicits fragile piercing sky high ethereal vocals of dreamy fearful introspection to intentionally get lost in the reflective fuzzed-out swirling mists carved by sparkling, echoing effect-laden guitar melodies, while a vibrant undertow of hard-hitting drum beats and low simmering bass pulses keeps it all grounded and moving forward at a trotting speed.

In the Official Music Video by Raincoated Records, a sunny cornfield sets a surreal maze backdrop for Kate Rogers while an old wooden attic casts shadows on Bad Bloom as they perform “Onion.” If you want a little laugh, as we probably all do, be sure to keep an eye out for the hidden bandmates in the dream sequence.

Bad Bloom‘s upcoming 4-track EP, “Pepper”, is scheduled for release, in Vinyl 12″ & Digital formats, on April 11, 2025 via Candlepin Records.
