WL//WH Video Of The Day: AUGUST ANGST “L’Ame” (Official Video)

WL//WH Video Of The Day   AUGUST ANGST

After a debut in 2022 imbued in Dark Wave and Electronic leanings, August Angst, the solo project of Toulouse, South of France-based multi-instrumentalist and composer  Jerome Ramirez tweaks and refines his sound nestled at the intersection between elements of Gothic Rock, Dreamgaze, Dark Folk, and Neo-classical with the latest single, “L’Ame”, featuring the steadfast drumming of Hugo Ribeiro (Moonspell), and the stirring vocalizations of Caroline Joy Clarke, an intriguing preview of the forthcoming album, “Et La Lumière Se Tue,” paired with a symbolic DIY Official Video.

“Between shadows and melancholy, hypnotic Darkwave pulses merge with Gothic and Shoegaze-infused guitars, weaving a sonic cathedral where a mournful violin echoes the sorrow of days long past. The whispered words, drenched in disillusionment, paint a world that seems unchanged yet hollow. The magic has faded, voices have fallen silent, and places once brimming with life are now mere echoes of what they used to be.”

“L’Ame” cathartically plods intense drum beats through relentless flowing rivers of ceremonial shivering bright synth resonances and piercing haunting guitar melodies, to shift into an organic interlude of rich dramatic weeping violins that surround solemn, isolated baritone French vocals, lamenting the unrecognizable environ he once lived in, unto an otherworldly finale of Caroline Joy Clarke’s unrestrained solo angelic choir.

In the visuals, a black hooded figure walks alone through an auburn forest and leaves a trail of white masks along the way. The angles are skewed and the camera work sways to create a dizzying effect while clips of August Angst performing “L’Ame” shuffle throughout. By the end, near a pure source of water, there are no more false faces to be removed and only a black lace veil of mourning remains.

Keep up with August Angst:
