Video Of The Day  ANTIPOLE & PEDRO CODE

Starting to blog more or less around the same period, we deeply felt the close bond among kindred spirits Antipole, Pedro Code and Andreas + Suzy of Close Transmission Music from their inception, as if feeling them all as part of the same sound heritage rooted in a visceral fondness for the 80s post-punk/wave iconic sounds. Thus, the just-announced affiliation of the Norwegian post-punk guitarist and composer Karl Morten Dahl to the German independent label sounds to come full circle naturally, just to usher in future compelling and earnest dark sonic reveries that will not fail to resonate in our hearts.

To herald the new exciting chapter, it could only be a heart-warming full-length Darkwave collaboration with the charismatic Portuguese dark crooner Pedro Code of IAMTHESHADOW, starting with a DIY video for “The Expanse,” the first excerpt and second song on the forthcoming album, “Future Echoes,” due out on June 19th, 2026, via Cold Transmission Music.

Throughout 2025, I sent instrumental sketches back and forth with Pedro, and he shaped them with vocals, lyrics, synths and production. When we finished Washed Away and The Expanse, it became clear we weren’t just making tracks — it was turning into a full album. The result sits somewhere between guitar-driven melancholy and Pedro’s more atmospheric, baritone-led sound — balancing light and darkness, beauty and a bit of despair.Antipole says

“The Expanse” is a deeply personal journey of memory, longing, and quiet hope, about a person who is waiting for words to guide them out of desolation through a lens of distance, silence, and emptiness.

Hypnotic metronomic programmed beats, laced with harshly bleak, meandering bass lines, compel an effect-filled atmospheric guitar that persistently pierces the cold, shadowy ether, painfully ringing with shivering wistful hopelessness, alongside slow evocative drifts from forsaken synths, over poignant layers of deeply felt, aching baritone vocals, struggling for connection against doubtful whispers.

In the visuals, Antipole plays guitar under a forest’s grey sky whilst Pedro Code sings passionately in the darkness. Both men are alone under the trees, wearing black clothes to evoke a sense of soul-searching and introspection. Footsteps walk down a white stone path toward a clearing in the woods where the sun gets ready to breach the horizon.

Antipole & Pedro Code‘s upcoming album, “Future Echoes,” will be released on Vinyl and CD via Cold Transmission Music on June 19th, 2026.
