Bogotà, Colombia coldwave duo ANTIFLVX, made of Leonardo Jaime (Lyrics, Vox, Programming) and Camilo Alfonso (live Machines), have just released their ‘sign of the times’ new single/Video “Lo Fatal”, as part of Antiflvx’s sophomore album “SPIRALS“, which will be available on 12” gold vinyl over the year, via InClub Records
Deep ominous thumping and clashing rhythms set a dark and dire tone amid buzzing reverbed bassline’s crawling pace juxtaposed with blinking, shimmering chords of icy bleeding synth, as signature deep distorted male vocals recite an esoteric poem from the early 1900s expressing a macabre Gothic Romance with the universe.
Lyrics are a heartfelt tribute to Modernist Nicaraguan writer Rubén Darío‘s existential poem “Lo Fatal”, which encapsulates the fear of the unknown, the absurdity of life, and the inevitability of death in “a heartfelt tribute to a text that perfectly exposes the human feeling in 2020: fragility, fear, sadness, and uncertainty.”
Black and white flickering vintage overlay casts nostalgic darkness upon alternating scenes of sad detached faces, zoom shots of vegetation, and lit pulsing synth keyboards to form a bleak and desolate landscape infused in pale glimpses of life found in wilted rose-tinted petals, and pink synthetic bar amplitude.
