WL//WH Video Of The Day: ANILORE “Entangled” (Official Video)

Video Of The Day  ANILORE

The elusive veteran Shoegaze unit from New York, Anilore, founded in 1992 by Andy Cheng, Andrew Malenda, and Michael Worsa, with a couple of exquisite unsung self-released albums under their belt, are going to drop on January 16, 2024, as they accustomed, after a long period of hiatus, their third studio album, “Lia Fail”, anticipated by the third and final single/video “Entangled”.

The band painstakingly crafts a refined and imaginative, stunningly seductive sound, nestled on the most atmospheric, contemplative, and emotive sonic boundaries from the 80s/early 90s of trailblazers such as The Cure (Anilore featured in the final chapter/compilation of the mighty The Blog That Celebrates Itself dedicated to Robert Smith’s band), Joy Division/New Order, The Smiths, Galaxie 500, Slowdive, Ride and MBV, together with most recent progressive “Blackgaze” groups such as The Angelic Process, Alcest and Deafheaven, ceaselessly alternating glimmers and shadows, as a palette of basic tones that magically gives shape to hazy and crepuscular yet always shifting ambiances, replete with profound introspections, at times with sudden bursts of energetic distorted catharsis, and lingering bittersweet emotions.

Immersive, calming, and celestial, “Entangled” blends light tinny percussions and sparse arcane cymbal swells with lilting feathery guitar strums, flowing crystalline arpeggios, warm poignant enveloping strings, and a distant river of pulsing bass lines, to build a comforting cradle of radiance that sways in shapeshifting intensities with dreamy layers of soft emotional vocals, rousing an array of sensorial feelings from melancholy to hope.

The magnificent stirring visuals sync awe-inspiring cosmic nature scenes with the ambient essence of the soundtrack. A beautiful sunset casts glistening prisms over reflective waters to set an inspirational mood for the viewer to explore intimate subconscious impressions. The imagery shifts from warm solar manifestations to still, cold outer space explorations, alternating tonal sensations, whilst strategic editing suggests significant changes on the horizon.

Anilore‘s third full-length album, “Lia Fail”, is slated for release, in Vinyl 12″ LP and Digital formats, on January 16, 2024.
