Active since 1992, veteran Synthwave / Post-Punk artist and producer based in Bratislava, Slovakia, Alex Kelman gives us a glimpse of his upcoming album, “Ilusia”, scheduled to be released on March 15, 2023 via Geertruida Records / Noise Me, through a video clip filmed and edited by Anastasia Maystrenko and Vadim Levovenya, for the heady Synthgaze single, “VHS” (Vysoka Hranica Snov | High Limit of Dreams), in collaboration with E. Frankevich (vocals, guitars) from Moscow‘s Shoegaze /Dream Pop band Secrets of the Third Planet.
Produced and recorded during 2020–2022, the LP includes 8 tracks, mostly produced by Alex Kelman himself, others in cooperation with different artists such as dream-pop romantic Magnus Josefsson, shoegaze band Secrets Of The Third Planet, friend and colleague in the previous Kelman’s band Punk TV, Vladimir Komarov, old-school electronics guru Inbox and crazy electorocker Kelly Perry.
A multi-layered universe veiled by a heavy, distorted haze triggers slow dragging drum beats, piercing and shivering guitar strains, and steady rumbling bass lines to open echoing dimensions around sad, dreamy vocal introspections where evocative synth effects ecstatically blow, drone, and swirl under the “High Limit of Dreams.”
A cinematic video by Anastasia Maystrenko and Vadim Levovenya blends the intoxicating organicism of the seashore with colorful animations to deliver a whimsical story of growth and change. A beautifully haunting dance sequence captured by the ocean side sets the stage for an otherworldly transformation enhanced by shadowy veiled silhouettes, hypnotic flows of motion, and dazzling, vibrant illustrations. Negative light reflections unblock portals to Saturn, where flying medusa, celestial starbursts, and prismatic energies flow from ancestral bloodlines, giving aid and support for the siren’s flourishing identity.
Alex Kelman‘s upcoming album, “Ilusia”, is due to be released, in Digisleeve CD & Digital formats, on March 15, 2023 via Geertruida Records/Noise Me.
