Video of the Day AILSA and the SEAHORSES
It has been almost five years since the Scottish Independent Cosmic Indie Folk singer and songwriter Ailsa McEwan, under the Ailsa and the Seahorses moniker, moved to Berlin to begin a new adventure while healing from a lost love.
As she prepares to return to her native Edinburgh, she will carry a keepsake, her debut studio album titled “The Hermit” to remind her of the travels abroad.
The LP was recorded at The Famous Gold Watch Studios by Bob Spencer with Marcel Eid (Electric Guitar), Timur Yusef (drums), and Nuri Chamari (bass) and has an accompanying video directed by Philos Maurice Klein for the title track to build anticipation for the September 20, 2024 release date.
The song places Ailsa’s beautifully evocative heartfelt vocals atop an emotional rippling bed of echoing, piercing crystalline guitar melodies laced with bouncy shimmery acoustic strums, and warm bass pulses alongside lively pattering and shifting percussions, guiding “The Hermit” back home.
In the visuals directed by Philos Maurice Klein, Ailsa plays the hermit dressed in a deep blue hooded robe, just like the tarot card she lies down on a stone at the end of the video. She walks barefoot through the woods and along a serene lake shore, feeling her way through the elements as if appreciating the organic textures for the first time. She finds herself midway through and dances for joy. The journey is adventurous, loving, full of symbols and truly touching, another tear-jerker that stirs the soul with inspiration.
Ailsa and the Seahorses’ debut album, “Hermit”, will be released on Friday 20th. To celebrate, a small and intimate evening of dreamy music will take place at Berlin‘s Göttin Der Weisheit on Sunday 22nd with songs from the album and beyond with an opening set from Brandon Miller.
