Dublin-based Franco-Irish dreamwave 4-piece band A Ritual Sea have released an evocative video, filmed, directed and edited by Fabien Chombar for the emotionally immersive new single “Hit A Lie” taken from last September’s self-titled debut album via Icy Cold Records.
Disenchanted lyrics unravel in the inner turmoil of an unforgettable deception while gaining misdirected comfort by running away from the truth.
An overwhelming rush of tension and anxiety flee from sad obsessive yet meandering sparkly guitar melodies to dissolve lost desires and slow bleeding aches through low pulsing basslines and dragging, skipping drum beats to create a disintegrating sway of broken dreams around the intoxicating power of dual atmospheric male/female vocals releasing deep, haunting gloom and airy high-strung angst into heartfelt cries and soothing celestial skies.
The dramatic black and white visuals capture an emotional outpouring of pain, anger, and conflict against a familial backdrop of misunderstood alienation. Distorted shadows cast doubt and fear over a tormented soul whose search for comfort leads back to the origins of life as a surreal time-lapse flow of motion carries the urgency and suffering from the unseen past into an abstract, shining light of joy and hope.
