Poland’s Post-Punk/Cold Wave 4-piece band (68)Leto, whose name comes from an asteroid discovered in 1861, follows last January’s debut 5-track EP, “NGC 68” and the September’s “Winter “ single, we featured at its release, with the New Year’s track “Those Personal Afflictions” and the accompanying video.
A song about a world full of hurt people, striking out at others to soothe their shattered psyches.
Immediately, a sunken feeling of heady darkness and melancholy envelops the listener by mesmerizing the senses with wiry, poignant, whining and wiry guitar smearings, underpinned by the heavy pressure of somber organic bass line throbs and loose shuffling drum beats, whilst reverbed vocal angst wallows in the rising depths of an aching emotional distress.
Simple yet disturbing DIY visuals capture the emotive intensity of the soundtrack with an almost still shot of a cold, frightened soul, standing alone at night on a frozen river bank. As stirring as it is thought-provoking in its minimal design and symbolic contrasts and textures.
