With an uncanny name that reminds an old theme already recurrent since the old Greece, a clear prefiguration of the clash between Eros and Thanatos, later also the subject for iconic artists of the likes of Edvard Munch, Egon Schiele and Joseph Beuys, the Dunedin-based New Zealanders 3-piece Death And The Maiden, made of Lucinda King, Hope Robertson and Danny Brady, have just released the lead single “Oooh Baby In The Chorus” from their forthcoming sophomore album “Wisteria” due out late April via Fishrider Records.
Punctuated by ethereal tones and intriguing rhythmn solutions, crafted by the mesmerizing synth wizardry of Danny, (also member of Elan Vital and Thought Creature, we talked about the former here), woven with Hope’s reverb, guitar layers and underpinned by Lucinda’s hauntingly poignant vocals, “Oooh Baby In The Chorus” is pervaded by an enchanted, dream-like aural atmosphere of deep emotions and underlying anxieties beneath the surface, reaching exciting and intriguing visionary hights of moving and intoxicating beauty.
New LP promises to “celebrate the excruciating beauty and crushing weight of everyday life”,
