WL//WH Video Of The Day: PRISM SHORES “Kid Gloves”(Official Video)

Video Of The Day  PRISM SHORES

The Montreal, Quebec-via-Charlottetown janglers Prism Shores announce, after more or less a year since the acclaimed “Out From Underneath,” their third album, “Softest Attack,” scheduled to be released on April 10, 2026, via Meritorio Records (Spain) and Having Fun (Canada), unveiling the first single, “Kid Gloves”, paired with an animated Official Video, created by Allie Brown and Ben Goss.

Written during a banner year for the four-piece, composed of Jack MacKenzie (guitar, bass, vocals), Ben Goss (guitar, bass, vocals), Luke Pound (drums, guitar, vocals), and Finn Dalbeth (guitar, vocals), the twelve tracks find the band catapulting into a more immediate, hook-laden direction, relying less on nocturnal atmospherics and leaning into the pure, undiluted strength of their melancholic songwriting.

A nod to both the late 80s and early 90s, the song ignites a seamless, dizzy, thunderous spiral of iridescent reverb-heavy shoegaze textures laced with a crunchy, magmatic Hüsker Dü-esque power-poppier edge, filled with infectious harmonies and unabated energy.

“Shrammel shoegaze” sound appropriately suggests a thoughtful FB page, a sizzling, vibrant foam rippling the shimmering surface, churned by propulsive drums and revolving bulky power chords on which gloomy, atmospheric vocals intensely soar into high, anxious cries, with emotional backups, to explore feelings of failure, doubt, and slipping through the cracks.

The Official Video, by Allie Brown and Ben Goss, uses animation to place significant lyrics, symbolic images, and colorful strobing textures over Prism Shores as they perform “Kid Gloves” in sync with the soundtrack.

Prism Shores‘ third album, “Softest Attack,” is due out on vinyl 12″ and Digital formats on April 10, 2026, via Meritorio Records (Spain) and Having Fun (Canada).
