WL//WH Single Premiere: PLASTIC ESTATE “There Must Be More Than This”

WL//WH Single Premiere Plastic Estate

Some of you could recall the second jangly-guitar-driven single from a Welsh young 5-piece from Cardiff, named Plastic Estate, we describe as ‘an utterly gripping four minutes of superb poignant and evocative new wave’ (here).

Reduced to a duet, Plastic Estate is going to release their third output “There Must Be More Than This” due out digitally on January 9, 2020, WL//WH is very pleased to premiere.

The pulsing and bouncing, glittering spirals of synthetic ‘strobe effect’ sounds, refracting of glittering synthpop, and disco flavors, are clear suggestions of a band keen to move away from their recent past and pursue new bold sonic realms.

‘The song touches on the pageant of mundanity that is normal working life and the desire for something that is both meaningful and tangible.’

Unremitting vigorous, whipping snare drums, along with tightly wound throbbing disco-like bassline, propel the tightly wound groovy beat onward, wiped by bright frigid swathes of synth and wheezing and rattling sweep effects, while sparse yet terse, flanged guitar hooks, laced with melancholy-drenched flair, heighten alluringly deep mournful vocals and soulful choruses, yearning for a more profound and satisfying life.

“There Must Be More Than This” is a strong introduction, soulful and gripping, to the band’s new 2-piece incarnation and electronic-driven direction, absolutely to keep a close eye on.

Plastic Estate‘s third single “There Must Be More Than This” is due out, digitally, on January 9, 2020.

The band starts off the new year with a couple of support slots:

February 1st – The Crofters Rights, Bristol – supporting London/Italian M!R!M (Avant! Records)

February 20th – Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff – supporting UK electronic act APRE

Keep up with Plastic Estate:
