Track Of The Day YANTRA
Yantra is the experimental electronic endeavour of Brussels-native artist-producer Yaniv de Ridder, also known by the alias YNV, and lyricist-vocalist-instrumentalist Janina Angel Bath, devoted to “craft new forms of transcendent sound, timeless and familiar all at once,” who are going to drop their debut album “Gateway”, on the Swiss label Subject To Restrictions Discs.
Using an array of vintage analog instrumentations, Yaniv is fond of, and Janina‘s edgy harmonious vocalizations, the San Francisco duo weave a finely balanced amalgamation of sinuous, hypnotic and percussive downtempo rhythms with elements of Wave, Psychedelia, Industrial, and Synthpop, steeped in uncanny and mesmerizing unfathomable auras.
The first excerpt, “Free Us”, is a song about feeling trapped by vacuous powers so, in order to be free, they must rise up from the ashes.
Relentless crispily knocking and tinny percussive patterns, laced with sneakingly roiling low-end pulses, ritually underline hypnotizing arcane spirals of looping, harsh droning synth oscillations, strained by swift strident resonances, along with smooth yet assertive female spoken words, layered with secret ghostly echoes, to imbue snake charmer-like seductive melodies, leading down an obscure path, amid esoteric trances and chilling incantations.
Yantra‘s debut studio album, “Gateway”, is slated for release, in Vinyl 12″ & Digital formats, on November 1, 2024, via Subject To Restrictions Discs.
