Australian bass and drums post-punk experimentalists based in Melbourne, Winternationale known for their energetic, incendiary live sets, last year seemed on the verge of releasing their debut album, but then things turned out in a different way.
Yesterday the duo, made up of Guy Harris (bass, vocals) and Maya Ruin (drums), dropped a new 7″ single “Over your cities” via Almanac Recordings, with a remastered version of 2016’s “Eulogies” as a B-side.
Rooted in their distinctive minimal, powerful and dense noise sound, “Over your cities” is build on throbbing, thick and groovy bass riffs backed by pummelling, urgent drums, while the desperate, pleading vocals channel all his angst and distrust of society, evoking a deep sense of sadness, doom and hopelessness of the future.
