WL//WH Track Of The Day: WHITE SUN “Another Try”

WL//WH Track Of The Day  WHITE SUN

Yesterday, someone invited me to the just launched Facebook page of White Sun, a fresh, enigmatic lo-fi Psychedelic band from Montreal, Quebec.

And here is “Another Try,” accompanied by super-8-like found-footage visuals, the trippy, drawly, soul-penetrating first single, which we missed, released around a month ago, about a person who, after time spent introspecting and wandering, decides to give life another try.

At once visceral and mesmerising, “Another Try” lays on the trance-inducing long sway of cymbal-laced percussions and vibrant, repetitive, droning guitar strums, inlaid by agonising, resonant wailing leads, building an enveloping, languorous groove around dry, drowsy vocals, fading in and out, while striving to send forth hope.

At the start of this month, White Sun followed up with the still fine and lysergic, mid-tempo second track, “Imaginary Lover.”  Both, especially the debut, provide glimpses of psych brilliance drowned in the murky churning, with more to come in the forthcoming weeks.

Keep up with White Sun:
