Track Of The Day WELL WHALE
Founded in 2018, Well Whale is an indiepop band from Bandung, Indonesia made up of Faizal Agusdin (lead vocals and bass), Puteri Ayesha (guitar, vocals), Raja Mahardika (guitar), and Kelana Ashil (drums).
The four piece returns after a long break, since their 2020 debut album, “Bittersweet Kisses”, with a new single, “A Brighter Summer Day”, once again via Maritime Records, along the lines of a radiant upbeat guitar pop, pervaded with melancholy, for these warm and breezy late summery times, serving up a lovingly built, shiny and infectious ‘neo-acoustic’ inflected tune with a pristine twee swoon.
Steady drumming alongside a winding bassline, pulses below lilting shimmery guitar strums laced with a fluid phrasing of caressing glistening wistful guitar melodies, whilst a catchy “pa-pa-ra-pa-pa-ra” chorus and heartfelt echoes backup soul-stirring female vocals, longing for life to be like a summer day.
