WL//WH Track Of The Day: WELL ADJUSTED “Waiting game”

Track Of The Day   WELL ADJUSTED

Formed in 2021 back home to Stockholm by singer and songwriter Emma Pettersson, after a stint in London where she played in the hyped psych rock band Hexmaze, Swedish 4-piece Well Adjusted took shape with the addition of bassist/guitarist Aron Lange (formerly member of Dim Vanilla, Delsbo Beach Club, Concrete Blossoms), guitarist Oscar Krantz and drummer Phil Pleade.

Well Adjusted‘s guitar pop sound straddles the lines between Indie Rock, Shoegaze, and Dream Pop, with solid roots in the 90s, ‘has been compared to bands such as Wolf Alice, Alvvays and The Smiths’. Evocative and reflective atmospheres are juxtaposed with vibrant and noisy guitar tones, on which the radiant voice of Emma stands out.

The debut single, “Waiting Game“, dropped last 8th July, while the band is currently recording their debut EP scheduled to be released later this year, is laced with confessional lyrics that unleash a tidal wave of pent-up aggression toward a lost soul who takes too long to make a move.

“Waiting Game“, takes me back to the sharp yet melodious guitar work (incidentally Glenn Johansson is from Sweden) and impassionate vocal exuberance of Echobelly and somehow even Suede, triggers a rumbling pinpoint bassline that along with steady rolling punchy drum beats, wobbling persistently, stabbed by the glittery shimmer of abrasive guitar riffs, whilst high-pitched piercing whining leads echoing with aching high-pitched vibrancy atop strong, powerful, and emotional female vocals, rising and falling with angsty, frustrated fragility to release fear, disappointment, and anger into a raging whirlwind of lost time.

Keep with Well Adjusted:
