Track Of The Day VONDER
Back on WL//WH, Vonder is the Dark Wave music project from the Netherlands started in 2020 by Ellenor Vora on vocals and Benjamin Sch (Noire Antidote) on machines, with several singles and an EP, “Horror” (2023), under their belt.
Bending the club-ready edges between haunting, aloof Darkwave, murky EBM and clanging, stern Electro Industrial rhythmic intensity, the new two-tracker, “Agony”, the duo’s first release of 2025, is an intriguing preview of what will come in the new year.
A song about not being able to get enough of someone through a lens of taking all you can fill yourself with, “Agony” is a nocturnal journey between darkness and light, built up from a solid yet minimal foundation of hard-hitting stomping drum programming, rattling electrocutions, interlaced with kinetic tensely pulsing low-end energy and spiraling trancey synth leads, on which insidiously sweet female vocals bewitch with disturbing obsessive breathiness.
Equally danceable and effective, the rawer, syncopated and clattering EBM-charged “Was that it?” on the flip.
Keep up with Vonder:
