Vick Vapours is the stage moniker of Los Angeles-based musician and composer Guillermo Jaime, a former multi-instrumentalist in a variety of Inland Empire’s Indie bands, to channel his subsequent keen passion, since around 2022, for the Darkwave sound style in its most electronic form.
Always open to collaborations (with Grizz CLL lately), mainly with kindred spirit Matt Rozo (FEVR), whose band he is also part of, the California artist creates a gripping mix of energy and introspection through a hypnotic combination of EBM, Techno, Synth Wave and Industrial leanings, fueled by driving shadowy dancefloor dynamics.
A shadowy and sinister throbbing of thudding kicks and punchy snares, spattered with crisp, sparse percussion grooves, propels through obsessively gritty, squelchy bass undulations, scythed by sibilant synth sweeps, swelling, with an ominous droning interval, over dull, agonized broods shifting to cold anger, while falling into a doomed cul-de-sac.
