Another young band from Mexico, this time based out of the capital Mexico City, called Useless Youth with their new single “En Este Lugar” featuring Emanuel Herrera, the guitarist and vocalist of fellow outfit Jean Loup, a preview from their forthcoming sophomore album “Cities”.
A song that deals with themes of romance and in particular about change, heartbreak and escape. “En Este Lugar” is a fresh and exquisite slice of dreamy, jangle indie-pop, glittering sublime guitar melodies are wrapped around the ethereal resolute, sad, albeit ultimately happy Pepe’s voice that intertwines with the smug and longing male one. A bittersweet combination of unease and strong emotional intensity, further bolstered by a final infectious rush of glistering guitar lines and soaring vocals ending in a catharctic gloomy-tinged hopeful mood.
Nothing new under the sun someone could easily say, it’s only captivating and irresistible, perfectly executed, melodic guitar pop, and we do like it.
