Track Of The Day UNDINYX
Singer and guitarist of the German noisy post-punk trio Grundeis, with a debut album coming up this Autumn, Hamburg-based artist Laura Mueller spawns her solo ethereal-wave project under the Undinyx alias.
Ranging from early 4AD dreamy and rarefied atmospheres to eerily brooding darkwave, Undinyx has dropped her first two singles in a little less than a month.
Along the lines of Anna Nin (None, Glaring)’s slow-building shadowy melancholic atmospherics, albeit with different vocal tones and a distinct guitar playing style, the new sophomore single, “Tireless”, triggers unremitting echoing tinny percussive patterns and light tapping beats penetrating a dense mist of ringing shimmering chords, lulled by ghostly drifts of enveloping airy synths, to infuse ethereal blissful agony, both dreamlike and sinister, cut through by harrowing distorted guitar wails atop subdued distressed female vocals layering fear with high-pitched, trilling dramatic chants, to wander tirelessly in solitude and alienation through a gloomy, desolate wasteland of disenchanted tears.
