WL//WH Track Of The Day: TURQUOISE “Avant demain”

Track Of The Day  Turquoise

“Reverb, Introspection and Electricity” are the three key elements, cast by cold vintage analogue synthesizers and reverb-soaked guitars, emphasized by the appealing coolly charm of Francophone styled singing, that has characterized the atmospheric and emotive interlace of New Wave, Synth-Pop, Dream Pop, Shoegaze and Post-punk leanings, inspired by Broadcast, Cocteau Twins or Slowdive, since Turquoise‘s inception with the self-released first eponymous EP in 2019.

The Brussels-based quartet is finally approaching their long anticipated debut studio album “Avant demain”, to be released on 25th October via Belgian independent label Freaksville Records, teased by the second and final single, the title track “Avant demain.”

If the most delicate and refined melodious hints of Broadcast or Stereolab are still there, while the moody post-punk inflexions faded over time on the far edges, the new single is a glistening entrancing offering of lush neon-lit Synth-Pop aesthetic with a nostalgic and sentimental French touch, steeped in pensive melancholy.

Beautiful poetic lyrics about the serenity of present moment awareness, “Avant demain” sways somberly through boundless contraposition between shadows and lights, built by repetitive punchy rhythm patterns, chugging pulsing bass lines, fluid synth washes and effect-filled sparkling plaintive guitar melodies, glistening with wistful drifting resonances against languid vocals gliding along in search for peace.

Turquoise‘s upcoming debut album “Avant demain”, is due out on 25th October via Freaksville Records,
