Melbourne‘s post-punk quintet formed in 2008 by Eddy Current Suppression Ring’s Mikey Young and UV Race’s Dan Stewart, TOTAL CONTROL has just relesed the new 8-track EP 12″ titled ”Laughing At The System” on Alter, once again an compelling display of the band’s unique garage-post-punk infected by throbbing synthesizers and discordant and abrasive guitars.
Last week preview ”Laughing At The System I” was already on repeat, but due to my chronic fixation with the early 80’s UK new wave, I totally fell in love with ‘Vanity’, an intriguing and turbulent art-punk blend of tense guitar riffs, punkish vocals, dissonant minimalism and a sublime sax that brings to mind the best bits of John Foxx-era’s Ultravox! and the Wire. Absolutely brilliant!
It’s hard to get bored e remain indifferent to the bizarre, fervent and mind-blowing music universe of a band constantly evolving, certainly many rushed end of the year lists will need to be revised.
Keep up with Total Control :
