Track Of The Day TOTAL COMMANDER
Active since last year, Meanjin/Brisbane-based post-punk revival unit Total Commander has unveiled “Mistakes,” their third and first Russian language single so far.
Started as a trio, the band recently added a keyboard player to supply further eerie “gothic” shades to their harsh and menacing dark sound, which sizzles and drifts, bursting with cold, gritty and brooding intensity.
“Mistakes” sparks off abrasive, wiry and jagged riffs, fueled by gritty throbbing bass lines and a vigorously brisk drumming, which nervously bounce, ramping up the grating tension, filled with spectral soaring keyboard washes, around stern, baritone declaiming vocals, explaining how trying to cover up mistakes, rather than acknowledging them, causes fear and emptiness.
