WL//WH Track Of The Day THE WORLD IS AGAINST YOU
Sharing the same label, GlassHead Records, with fellow up and coming shoegazers King Hit, which we featured recently, Wellington, New Zealand-based The World Is Against You (TWIAY), started as the solo project of Thomas Waddington, with a bunch of singles under its belt since the very start of last year, has recently dropped “Gold”, the first collaborative track as a full band, comprised of Stefan Jenkins, Ezra Beckett and Rhys Hicks.
The group, described as blending elements of Shoegaze, Drone, and Post-punk, although Emo and Grungy flavors are also added to the mix, serves up an emotionally gripping guitar-driven sound, instinctive yet uncompromising, that strikes with a healthy dose of heartfelt immediacy, raw energy, and inner turmoil.

A song about a relationship where people try to force their worldview onto each other and end up lying to themselves and one another until it is all destroyed.
Set upon shifting dynamics, expansive nervy reflective build-ups and hefty droning crescendos, fueled by tireless drums and warm pulsing bass lines, “Gold” weaves an insistent swaying of wistful twinkly arpeggios, bursting at the seams with a hefty deflagration of chaotic guitar surges and spasmodic stabbing twinges, together with hoarse whispery spoken words, varying between calm and angst, before turning to aggressive anger.
Keep up with The World Is Against You:
