“Not Quite Right” is his surprisingly sublime first song permeated by a dark, gothic sound that explores darkwave and coldwave canons, dealing with the present at the same time inspiring from the past.
It’s a hit of blurring contrasts between light and night, perception and reality, and right and wrong. Grey areas are revealed to hold many truths.
Propulsive pounding thick drum machine, punctuated by sparse slashing claps, and buzzing bass foster the tension created by subtle yet dense stabs of icy synth combined with dour, enveloping strings. The sober baritone vocals are indignant and merciless, revealing his deep feelings of discontentment and frustration through an evocative and introspective exploration of life, love and identity.
