Track Of The Day The Here Todays
Finnish 4-piece The Here Todays are back, two years after 2 well-received singles, with a two-track Demo recorded in March 2020, just a week before their Country went into lockdown mode, as a preview from the forthcoming debut EP due later this year.
Leaving the post-punk and dream pop leanings in the background, the band’s guitar-driven sound has become denser as it is ethereal, sharper as it is immersive, harking back to the classic shoegaze of the 90s with nods to the Jesus & Mary Chain, Slodive and Catherine Wheel.
“Miranda” is fueled by vibrant steady drum beats and sinuous hearty bass pulses, sweeping guitar swooshes, infused with shimmering effect-laden distortion, hover for a melodic hazy ramble in blissful aural dizziness with a searing fuzzy edge, whilst breathless ethereal vocals, lost in a heap of reverb, ebb and flow in helpless angsty ecstatic longings rife with hopeless romance and intimate melancholy.
It’ll be interesting to listen to the complete article.
