It’s a world full of spleen, the one explored by the French band, of devastating emotional power.

It’s a world full of spleen, the one explored by the French band, of devastating emotional power.
‘Je Ne Dormirai Jamais / I’ll Never Sleep’ is permeated by a deeply dark atmosphere from the first note. As the black velvet, sometimes opaque, sometimes shiny, but always black.
An buildup of layers on layers of saturated distorted guitars welcome the listener, a doleful voice whines, like a Gregorian chant, on a wave of drones and repetitive steady drum patterns, before first exploding in a blinding heart-breaking fury of desperation and grief and slowing down; the tension builds and builds again gathering immense heights, stacking layer upon layer of insanely oppressive sound-noise to create a striking relentless screaming and sonic final catharctic assault on the senses.
Cold, grim, depressed and intricate but also so beatifully addictive.
