Track Of The Day THE CARNAGE VISORS feat. LACRIMA NOIR
Hailing from Italy, Silvano (vocals), Sofia Ash (bass) and Omar Boasso (drum, keyboard, synth, mix, photography) a.k.a. Insufficient Technology are a group of old teenagers from Milan‘s underground scene who started, in 2021, the Goth-tinged, Dark Wave project The Carnage Visors, a name that heralds clear nods to the most shadowy, moody and atmospheric Post Punk from the ’80s, as their own distinctive means to retrace an old acquaintance’s emotional qualities through sounds more distorted than ever with hearts eroded by melancholic chords.
The band returns after a year with a new heart-wrenching, synth-laden single, “Violet,” once again adorned by the evocative effect-filled guitar by Ignazio Mele of Lacrima Noir, founder, composer and vocalist of the cult mid-90s Italian Darkwave outfit Lacrime di Cera; absolutely to recover, in case you missed it, last April’s Lacrima Noir debut album, “L’attesa che uccide,” via Swiss Dark Night label.
“Violet” triggers a hopeless turbulent race toward the pitch-black emptiness of skipping tinny drum beats and a relentless ominously brooding bass line, fueling a resonant dramatic whirlwind of hypno-droned, icy bright synth quivers, pierced by insistent forlorn guitar strains, to encompass terrified, pain-filled vocals, agonizing and struggling to survive within an impossible home situation, where injected emotions of never feeling good enough and fear of abandonment tear at heart with merciless intensity.
