In liquid modern times of nefarious Western liberal capitalism where objects, people and human relationships are treated like commodities, factors determining the alienated and fragmented nature of society, love, friendship and spiritual introspection now represent real forms of subversion.
Tensión, the veteran Argentine band from Rosario, also home to the largest Italian community migrated from Piedmont, my home region, at the end of the 19th and the start of the 20th century, had delivered dark and corrosive post-punk since 2012, in full fiery DIY punk spirit, that harks back to militant groups from the late 70s and start of the 80s such as early The Clash, Crisis, Stiff Little Fingers, and Crass.
More or less refers to the above, Tensión‘s new double single “Los besos nunca dados” (The kisses never given), looking for other experiences for a different life.
Raw, straightforward, and vibrant “Hacia el oeste” (Towards the West) is a song about the workday and feelings of deprivation, unleashes urgent rolling drum beats, darting chugging bass lines, and jagged, sharp-edged guitar riffs that resonate in aching ringing echoes over impassioned vocals, digging deep into an emotional well of unrestrained longing.
The catchy and upbeat yet broodingly energetic, “Un llamado a tu bondad” (A call to your kindness), sways along bouncy rhythms and metallic, serrated guitars with slightly caustic huffy vocals and a singalong chorus about needing more than just having one’s basic needs.
Keep up with Tensión:
