WL//WH Track Of The Day: STEPHEN’S SHORE “Under the Pine”

Track Of The Day   STEPHEN’S SHORE

After making us fly high with a rather brilliant first teaser, titled “Garden”, with subtle Byrdsian glimmers, from the upcoming EP “Neptune”, via Meritorio Records, the long-standing Stockholm five-piece band Stephen’s Shore, formed in 2011, return with their second new song “Under the Pine.” taken from the upcoming EP.

The Swedish unit, comprised of Viktor Sjodin, Johan Dittmer, Mattias Bergqvist, P.A. Blomqvist, and Erik Stackpole Undehn, imagines a ’60s-tinged guitar-laden sound radiating sophisticated sparkling arpeggios and sun-kissed laidback atmospheres, where scintillating Jangle Pop, and languid Paisley Psychedelia, with streaks of Surf and Americana, placidly dance together, graced by watercolour vocal harmonies, in an eternal bittersweet summer.

A song about giving comfort and support to a friend who seems lost and discouraged,

“Under the Pine” bestows a hazy, calm and oneiric aura laced with a sinuous wistful breath, to let us wane, aroused by the atmospheric sound from lapping waves and seagull whimpers, on the immersive, hypnotic lilting groove of swaying off-tempo soft percussions and round, crisp bass throbs, enveloped by the blissful shimmery tones of the guitar melodies reverberating and stretching in a stirring undertow, rippled by twangy nostalgic reverbs, that swell to decline placidly, drifting far out on emotional seas, coasting warm, loose, dreamy vocals gently releasing worry amid ghostly backups.

Stephen’s Shore‘s “Neptune” EP will be released, in ltd. blue Vinyl 12″ & Digital formats, on May 10, 2024 via Spanish independent label  Meritorio Records

Keep with Stephen’s Shore:
