Track Of The Day Simon Minó
Now relocated to Copenhagen via Paris, Simon Minò, former frontman of renowned Malmö-based band RA, despite sporadic one-off releases since his debut album, “Alma / Flora,” in 2021, always knows how to delve into the depths of the soul, teetering between torment and euphoria, the urge to dance and melting away with melancholy, this time a vibrant blend of uptempo Synth-Pop and Post-punk energy titled “Searchlights” featuring the ethereal vocals of Isabella Boris-Möller, via his own label Valentina Archives.
Lyrically, “Searchlights” is about a person suffering from endless heartache, who wonders if there is anyone out there who has felt the same kind of pain.
Atop a relentless swaying floor of earnestly resonant, pinpoint bass throbs and steady punchy drum patterns, an echoing poignant curtain of plaintive fluting motifs, chromatic guitar strums and glowing synth stabs, swirl and shiver desolately along with an emotional male/female vocal unison of soft baritone melancholy and angsty heartfelt longing.
