Paris-based synth-pop outfit Silly Joy started in 2016 as a duo to leak some tracks on Soundcloud, including a brilliant cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ “Hurt” and a couple of videos, but only in the new year things have been shaken up: the first live shows, the addition of a new member and the announcement of the end of the recordings of their debut full-length.
The brand new single “The Road” is an infectious and electrifying ‘road-rage-charged’ synth-pop number, propelled by brooding post-punk rhythms. Taut obsessive kicks, seething drones and relentless, profound throbbing bass lines converge into driven pounding hard-hitting beats and intoxicating buzzing synth sequences, pulsing together with fierce and defiant intensity fuelled by shrill, aggressive, raspy vocals growing in rousing and vibrant chorus brimming with anger, anxiety and subdue violence.
Absolutely addictive and utterly energetic, a very promising foretaste of the debut album.
