SHV/ARZ is a Darkwave / Coldwave / Post-punk solo project from Hannover, Germany, which has just dropped the debut single, “Dead Men’s Machinery”, the first excerpt from the upcoming debut full-length, “ZOGRASCOPE”, via Icy Cold Records.
“Dead Men’s Machinery” enriches chilly and minimal classic Darkwave and Coldwave elements with enough expressive tormented gothic pathos to keep the listener mesmerized throughout, while lyrically painting an apocalyptic landscape where silence, darkness, and lies cause blood red skies and barren death-filled wastelands.
A hypnotic drum machine rattles along under bleak, humming bass loops and forlorn crisp, spindly guitar lines, plagued by sparse synth stabs and eerie, angsty swirls, obsessively vibrating with hopeless intensity against haunted, hopeless vocals, turning to a chorus of aching pain.
