We highlighted the eerily entrancing, nocturnal, atmospheric Post-Punk-tinged Darkwave solo project Shadows Hold from Los Angeles twice last year.
Fresh from the affiliation with Cold Transmission Music, Shadows Hold has released the 3-track EP “Nexum,” imbued with haunting spectral ambience where elegant, uncanny synths prowl the shadows and whispering vocal chills permeate the cold, mystifying air.
The opening track “Closed Eyes” triggers rumbling, throbbing low ends and urgent punchy beats that provide a steady, propulsive counterweight to obsessive flashes of anxious, glaring synths, punctuated by deep moody guitar strains, to swirl with shivering desolation around airy, frozen vocal layers, emitting ghostly, radiating breaths of fear, pain, and anger.
