Track Of The Day SALT LAKE ALLEY
First single of 2023, after last year’s acclaimed sophomore album “It Takes Two” via Shelflife Records, from Stockholm-based Indie/Jangle Pop group Salt Lake Alley, comprised of Gustav Tranback (Paper Hearts, Dismal Plight) and Mikael Carlsson (The Honeydrips, Dorotea), the former also featured on these pages with his Post-punk side project Dismal Plight.
Throughout “Guess I’ll Never Know” the duo, once again, shines in the artistry of seamlessly crafting seductively wistful jangle-pop-infused nuggets through a dizzy merry-go-round of Kinks-tinged twinkling orchestration and endearing 12-string ringing rapture.
Nostalgic, brooding romantic moods wrap a shimmering flow of jangly guitar melodies laced with chiming harpsichord-like swelling tones, underpinned by powdery drum machine beats, and sinuously pulsing warm bass lines, to pave a downtrodden path of regret around angsty heartfelt melancholy, longing for a missed encounter of amorous fate.
