Seattle-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist Danny Rowland of Seapony, Transmitters, and Space Daze darlings, continues seamlessly from where he left off, precisely one year ago, announcing his second batch of Casio-flavored, jangly pop standards as Research Vessel, through the first appetizer “Like Today”, from the upcoming 5-track EP “Next Weekend,” once more via Olympia‘s independent label Small Craft Advisory,
An intimate and heartfelt melancholic affair soaks in a swaying daze of bittersweet dreaminess, lilted by bouncy programming beats and dry, brittle acoustic guitar strums, smeared by reeling and reedy forlorn keyboard swells, on which lies Danny’s tracing-paper frail singing, wrapped in angsty and gloomy undertones, to express having an extinguished flame, feeling broken, and not knowing what to do.
Research Vessel’s second EP, “Next Weekend”, is due out, Cassette & Digital, on April 4th via Olimpya, WA-based label Small Craft Advisory.
