WL//WH Track Of The Day: REPO MAN “Air”

Track Of The Day REPO MAN

If the debut s/t EP, at the end of last year, was expected to establish the Australian five-piece REPO MAN, made up of  Oliver Clarke (drums), Jack Bennett (bass), Darcy Bennett (guitar), Jared Borkowski ( keys) and Joshua Duffy (vocals),  as one of Sydney’s heaviest and darkest acts, the band’s new single “Air”, taken from forthcoming first full-length, is full evidence of that.

Simmering with relentless feverish intensity and striking urgency, “Air” is an obscure, alienating, threatening, frozen blast at once unsettling yet seductive, restrained yet overwhelming. Foreboding and slithering magmatic shards of synths, sharp tense guitar riffs, underpinned by crashing propelling drums and deep droning bass fervently quiver together, with a unique impassioned brand of strife, charged by primal, oppressed, enraged howls, punctuated by guttural epic chorus of defiance, brimming with terror, anxiety and sheer fury.

Steeped in gripping, visceral and bleak melodrama, “Air” is the dangerous dim sound of impending doom.

Keep up with Repo Man:
