Track Of The Day Playlist Venkova
Albeit somehow previously escaped me, Russian indie rock /post-punk duo from Saint-Petersburg, Playlist Venkova [Плейлист Венкова] has dropped the new single “Так не хочется революции / So I don’t want a revolution”.
Pensive lyrics dwell on a Zen-like depth of insight, where we are afflicted by the past and the future, or better yet we’re in the habit of appreciating and dwelling in the past and daydreaming about the future, but there is no other reality than that of the here and now, the true happiness lies in living and enjoying the present moment.
An addicting and dancing, melancholia-ridden melodic post-punk song that features a sinuous deep pulsing bassline, sprightly syncopated rhythms, and catchy, forlorn guitar riffs shrouded in achingly piercing reverb, over nostalgic distressed male vocals long and brood in hopeless dreams of restlessness.
“Так не хочется революции” is atmospherically warm, wistful, vibrant with passion amid emphatically heartfelt moments, hard to get out of your head.
A new single is scheduled to be released at the end of August.
