Since around 2022, the Quebec-based electronic solo project of composer and musician Phil Fortin explores visceral and mysterious goth-tinged dystopian realms drawing elements from Industrial, Post-punk, Dark and Cold Wave, powered by moody guitars and magnetic vocalizations.
Following last May’s EP “Le crépuscule des serviteurs”, the Northern Canadian artist’s latest single, “L’Ultime”, states that, as humans, we are merely travellers on the road to the ‘Ultimate’ and that any resistance is futile.
The track unleashes ominous droning bass line loops, punctuated by punchy mechanical snare drums and crispy claps, that oscillate into an abysmal and profound darkness, awash in icy bright synths, ripped by sharp, pain-filled guitar shreds, to propagate stark and unnerving layers of heartless doom, echoed by harsh tired vocals weighty with hopelessness.
