Track Of The Day PARTIKUL
Brussels based duo PARTIKUL, made of Aly (Synths & Drums Machine) and Stef (Guitars & Vocals), which feature among their influences 80s post-punk/new wave bands such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Tuxedomoon, Nitzer Ebb, The Smiths and contemporaries like Boy Harsher, are going to release, following their first EP “Venus Virus” from 2019, their debut album “Related Memories” due out on the 1st of July 2021, via fellow DIY label Exit does not exist Records.
Deftly combining icy minimal analog electronics and poignant guitar magnetism, fueled by cold, mechanical industrialized rhythms, Partikul‘s dark organic and synthetic sound is both dreary and alienating, sharp and danceable.
Preceded by the vibrating and tight hypnotism, cloaked in hallucinated spiralling synths, of the first single “Curse”, between Suicide and Moon Duo,
the second preview “I’m Yours”, laced with devotional lyrics confessing complete attraction, adoration, and love to another, sways with swelling and enveloping ghostly stark visceral depth, that recalls the alluring darkness of early Neon Judgement, simmering with brooding introspection, propelled by pulsing and steady rhythms, interspersed by the metronomic blare of double clanging claps, whilst a meshing thick haze of buzzing wavering low ends and swishing synths, is stabbed by achingly emotional piercing guitar sweeps, lilting together in plaintive unison with cold unwavering male vocals, dropping sensual tension and serene elation into the narcotic flood of obsession.
