WL//WH Track Of The Day: PALAIS IDEAL “The Programme”

Track Of The Day Palais Ideal

Following last year excellent debut album “No Signal”, Eindhoven based two-piece Palais Ideal, comprised of Richard van Kruysdijk (bass, baritone guitar, backing vocals, synths, programming) and John Edwards (vocals, guitars, synths, programming.), return, fresh from a deal with German label COLD TRANSMISSION MUSIC,  with a new 2-track single entitled “The Programme”, featuring a non-LP cover version of The Cure’s “A Strange Day” as B-side, taken from their forthcoming second full-length “Pressure Points” to be released on May 25th, as usual masterly produced by John Fryer (Depeche Mode, NIN, Cocteau Twins).

Channelling the distinctive gloomy romanticism of their 80’s post-punk and new wave infused nuanced sound that effortlessly bridges the gap between the past and present, “The Programme” embraces ominous rumbling bassline that simmers and coils throughout, underpinned by tight pounding drum patterns and subtle hypnotic synth background textures, fuelled by chiming, shimmering, swirling sharp guitar chords map out endearing pulsating dark epic vibes saturated in sophisticated and emotionally stark melodies, floating on the brink of tension and resolution, encapsulated by resounding urgent vocals oozing mesmerizing sheer drama of aching intensity.
