Paris-based “luminescent wave”duo comprised of Madrid native Rocío Ortiz and French artist Sophia Hamadi, under the OPALE moniker, have finally dropped a new EP titled “Eternelle Nostalgie” on their own brand new Parisian independent label Contemplative Recordings and Brooklyn’s We Be Friends. Four cold, sensual and bewitching synth laden tracks soaked in profound and contemplative melancholy and introspection, albeit less desolate and murky than before.
A delicious cover of Marylin Manson‘s “Cryptorchid”, as part of a tribute compilation, gave hopes for new materials after being on hold for almost 5 years since their infectious debut album “L’incandescent” via Stellar Kinematics.
Title-track “Eternelle Nostalgie” unfurls trance-inducing, mesmerizing synth arpeggios with lush, reverberant pads underscored by echoing beats seamlessly blend nebulous and dreamy impressionistic soundscapes rich of otherwordly emotional nuances soothed by hypnotic, floating, ethereal vocals of serene, euphoric exctasy combine with dazzling synths pulsing with intoxicating intensity.
A surprising, pleasantly immersive and enthralling return for all the synth-lovers…
