WL//WH Track Of The Day Nossiennes
I had listened not long ago to some demos that sounded very promising on Soundcloud, the result from bare and raw live sessions by the recently formed Bristol, UK power trio Nossiennes that just makes its debut with the 3-track “Vivere” EP, on ltd. CD and Digital, through the increasingly effective Brighton-based label, runs by Nico Beatastic, Shore Dive Records.
It is visceral and instinctive shoegaze, bound to MBV as much as JMC and at the same time imbued with a distinctive melodic flair, whose vigour and full-bodied intensity lies in dense layering of weighty contrasts, amidst calm and tension, bliss and pain, lights and shadows, fully able to ignite the heart, and caress the senses.
Punchy, heavy drums are wrapped around howling and piercing high-pitch guitar lines waxing and waning laced with stark severity, charged by seething thick sinuous bassline and interspersed by sparkling guitar melodies that reverberate in sync with dismayed, ecstatic vocals, dripping in pensive awareness, pondering life, death, and failure against a turbulent and fierce, hazy swarm of blistering and screeching 6-string distortion that glows and twists into a final mesmerizing drone.
Keep up with Nossiennes:
