WL//WH Track Of The Day: MONOTONOUS CITIES “Grey”

Track Of The Day Monotonous Cities

Up-and-coming artist from the ‘onda oscura latina’, Monotonous Cities, the Mexico City-based one-man-band, formed in late 2015 by Héctor Santaella, has just dropped the relentlessly dark, dance-inducing new single “Grey”.

With an EP and a single under his belt, Monotonous Cities‘ propulsive and intensely gloomy sound, influenced particularly by The Cure and Lebanon Hanover, straddles the fine line between post-punk and coldwave with shoegaze-tinged guitar injections.

Lashing walloping beats and insanely alluring yet ominous meandering bassline, of driving and uncompromising anxiety, blast onward penetrated by sharp-edged, blistering guitar sparks and soaring leads lingering ruthless resonance of passion and desire, ricocheting throughout to expel transfixing weave of yearning and hunger reverberating deep, haunted, and lustful vocals laced with obsessing love, danger, and adoration entrenched in a lost and lonely world of addiction.

Keep up with Monotonous Cities:
