WL//WH Track Of The Day: MONOTON TID “Mellan en och fyra väggar (Between one and four walls)”

WL//WH Track Of The Day  MONOTON TID

Monoton tid, the cold synth-driven unit from Sweden, made of Emilia (vox /synth), Fredrik (synth), and Vincent (bass /synth /vox), have announced the strictly limited cassette and digital release of the self-titled album “monoton tid,” a collection of 8 songs, compiled through the band’s previous recording sessions and 4-track home demos, offering a retrospective of their brand of monotonous wave music. It features the only 2 songs the group ever recorded in English and even their first ever recorded instrumental track, conceived before they ever stepped into the rehearsal space.

Equally stripped down, plain yet highly effective, the first three tracks unveiled, starting with “Mellan en och fyra väggar,” where surgical skeletal rhythmic repetition, bubbling bass pressure, and persistent swirling layers of anxious, sulky glowing icy synths inject alienating, surreal atmospheric tones, to which echoing ghostly gusts of deeply sad, detached vocals fit perfectly.

Sonorous moody, organic post-punk bass lines underline “Vågorna,” meandering on the desolate and restless buzzing haze of introspective monochromatic landscapes, as much as they slinkily pulse in the industrial-scattered, rattling downtempo pace of the nostalgic and elatedly doom-laden “Shattered lines.”

Monoton tid‘s upcoming self-titled album, monoton tid,” will be released (limited Cassette & Digital) on August 14, 2026 via the BLCK FLWRS label.

Keep up with Monoton tid:
