WL//WH Track Of The Day: MINUIT PHOSPHÈNE “Die Alone”

Track Of The Day Minuit Phosphène

Saguenay, Quebec based duo Minuit Phosphène have just dropped over the last weekend their debut single “Die Alone”.

A moody, atmospheric song steeped in a pensive spleen, that conjures up and melts familiar spine-tingling new wave and dream pop suggestions into disturbing and entrancing listening, combining elements of lush dreamlike ethereality, grounded by subtly droning shoegazing hazy textures and nostalgic icy synth chimes, all wrapped in a light-flecked somber shadowy aura.

Laced with introspective lyrics that travel through a tragic past of heartache and pain to shed tarnished thoughts and emerge wiser and brighter, “Die Alone” is built on steady drum beats and a nimble bassline to propel shimmering reverberated guitar chords, swept by wistful swirls of chilly glassy synths, that obsessively ripple and at times achingly tinkle around dreary and dreamy vocals, drawing long heartfelt cries of angst and melancholy amid ominous lingering memories and unsettling fear.
