Track Of The Day MATERIAL WORLD
Material World is the solo DIY endeavor into Goth-infused Post-Punk / Darkwave demeanors, tinged with early Sisters of Mercy, Rosetta Stone and She Past Away vibes, led by the Houston, Texas-based musician and composer Christian Larson (of blackened metalheads Night Cobra and Necrofier) on the verge of dropping his debut 3-track EP, due on December 14, 2023.
In full DIY attitude, the Southern Darkwaver concocts driving danceable and vibrant drum programming, moody humming bass pulses, overlaid with somber fluid atmospheric guitar tones, and icy synth washes, to underpin an intensely aching and cavernous singing, that evokes murky and ghostly brooding visions, drenched in claustrophobic dismal suffering.
The opening “Cursed” sparks off heart-racing shuffling drum beats and deeply throbbing basslines, to urge haunting moody auras, penetrated by wandering poignant glistening guitar melodies, echoing on an eerie backdrop of cool celestial airs laced with chilly angsty doom, whilst a dramatic vocal juxtaposition of guttural demonic growls and morose forlorn cries battle for the “cursed” in an Apocalyptic showdown.
