Since 2022, unpredictable wanderers of intricate and intriguing New Wave, Coldwave, Post-Punk, and Neue Deutsche Welle sound amalgamations, the Leipzig-based three-piece Mantarochen drops the first excerpt, “Seperate Ways”, from the upcoming 5-track EP, “Wellness Ward”, due out on June 26, 2026, via Chemnitz‘s independent label/mail order It’s Eleven Records.
Both abrasive and icily mesmerizing, “Seperate Ways” revolves around a moody, synth-less, sharp-edged post-punk sound with a prominent sinuous yet ominous bass and a Keith Levene-esque shrilling guitar tone.
A haunting, thick, elastic bassline throbs sonorously, along with shuffling percussions, plodding its way beneath sheer loud bursts of screeching, piercing riffs that achingly climb uphill and poignantly fall over aloof, gloomy vocals, sulkily brooding on darkness and separation.
Mantarochen‘s 5-track EP, “Wellness Ward”, will be released, Cassette & Digital, on June 26, 2026, via It’s Eleven Records. Cassette pre-order here.
