WL//WH Track Of The Day: MACHINE SPEAK “Gloam”

Track Of The Day  Machine Speak

Little did we know about new Scottish 4-piece MACHINE SPEAK from Dundee, just that “Gloam” is the title of their DIY debut single, out now on Digital and Limited Edition Cassette with 3 Bonus Tracks.

“Gloam” is an eviscerating, sultry and hazy burst of a precocious goth-induced noirish post-punk jam with evocative, harrowing instrumental edges fueled by powerful and emotionally gripping Jeffrey Lee Pierce-shaded voice encircled by an inescapable and regretful deal with the devil.

An ominous relentless melody-driven baseline, definitely familiar, simply hard to resist, builds and pulses intensely throughout, woven with terse pounding drums, sparsely engulfed by glassy bleak keyboard lines, while blazing and creepy twangy guitar slivers crack, screech and echo beyond magnetically stand-out dramatic vocals brimming with passion, vibrancy and a whole heap of fearful and anxious emotions.

A riveting debut.
